More Than Statistics -- "These are OUR children, WE Take Care of OUR Children!"
The above quote was Rev. Nathaniel & Thelma Burleson's reply when someone suggested that they apply for government assistance (welfare) to feed their 14 children (only one child was adopted). As the third born of those 14 children, I use their quote to remind everyone that visits this website that ALL of the children in Foster Care are OUR CHILDREN! Let's take care of our children!"

United States Statistics:
Every year, almost 400,000 children enter the foster care system!
About 23,000 age out! Without intervention, foster care becomes cyclical!
Foster Care is disproportionately Black
Although people of color are in the minority in the United States, a disproportionate number of children in foster care are children of color.
However, predominately Black churches are stepping up to the plate!
Bishop & Mrs. Aaron Blake - Adopted 6 boys and led a movement in their congregation where 39 others were adopted!

The W.C. Martins -"Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot" tells how all the foster children in a 100-mile radius were adopted.

In TX, there are about 17,000 in foster care!
Almost 3,000 Age-Out of Foster Care in DFW every year!
AAMC reports that the Suicide Rate among Black 10-19yo has risen 78%!
