"Rolling YOUniversity Texas Tour" 2025

The Emphasis is on YOU -- the YOUth that will tour the schools and historic sites!

The picture on the right is the tour that REECH's Director took students in 2012; they traveled from Texas up to Connecticut (Yale University was the Ivy League that we visited that year - Harvard cancelled). The 2025 Tour will be an exclusively Texas tour and will be finalized as we receive confirmation from the schools, museums, historic sites, hotels, and personnel that will be touring. Below are memories from other tours. Adulting TAYA who will be traveling and touring colleges, universities, and historic sites will learn just how educational and exciting travel can be!

Dallas College (formerly called Dallas County Community College) will be a highlight because of the myriad vocational courses they offer to the DFW area.

Historically Black Colleges & Universities will include Paul Quinn College, Texas Southern University, Prairie View A&M University, and Wiley College.

When possible, one of the 8 Ivy League Universities is included on the tour. In 2025, no Ivy League schools will be included since none are located in Texas.

Several of the schools being contacted for the 2025 tour are universities; they will possibly include Texas Tech University, some of the University of Texas campuses, and Texas A&M University.

Plans include touring the state capital in Austin, NASA in Houston, and the Alamo in San Antonio. Gulf Coast cities like Galveston and Corpus Christi are also possible sites that will be included. Portions of the largest ranch in the United States, King Ranch, will be toured, if possible.

While in Austin, we plan to meet and be hosted by State Representatives and state senators that represent the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Additionally, every attempt will be made to meet our Governor.

Most youth who are aging out of foster care have never taken a vacation or trip out of the DFW area!

As the wheels on the bus roll, the youth will be engaged in discussion, watching inspirational videos, processing impressions of the previous stop, or becoming familiar with the next stop.

Austin, Texas is one of the places we will tour.

There is so much to see and do in Texas!

Houston and San Antonio are other stops on the tour.

A bus tour of the largest Texas city, Houston, will include NASA.
